![]() ![]() ![]() Website (including detailed instructions on how to get there): We visited on a cloudy day so my amateurish photos are a bit dreary, but thanks to North Haven Golf Club and photographer Barry Hyman for use of the sunnier photos here to brighten things up. Before the round was over, more water views and plenty of challenging golf shots. We enjoyed the tiny original clubhouse on that hole, as well as our brief encounter with a couple of members who were working on some of the flower beds. … and the beautiful short par 4 3rd with water as a backdrop. Then came the tiny graveyard near the 2nd tee… It is plenty challenging, starting with the par 4 first - an uphill 400 yarder that narrows as you near the green. But the golf course is terrific and uses the land beautifully, as you would expect from an original Wayne Stiles design. Understated, a bit rugged, with a small clubhouse and pro shop. North Haven Golf Club is as charming as they come. It takes a 70-minute ferry ride from Rockland… and some strategic planning to reserve a spot for your car … as well as timing the return trip so you don’t miss the boat.īut I will say this - it was worth every ounce of energy to put the trip together and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. You see, North Haven is on an island some 12 miles off the coast of Maine, so you don’t just drop in for a quick 9 at the club unless you live or vacation there. It was without a doubt one of the most unique days of golf I ever experienced, if due to nothing more than the effort it took to get to Maine’s North Haven Golf Club. ![]()
